Here's a desktop making note of a technology rapidly becoming central to your computing experience, Apple's own FireWire, also known as IEEE 1394 to the Windows crowd.  This little symbol's been included on PowerMacs since the B & W G3, and soon found its way into the iMac, iBook, and PowerBook lines as well.

Mid-Century Modern makes its return to Macalicious. Strictly speaking, it's not truly a mid-century motif, but hey, who's gonna split rabbits? You might say it fuses elements from both 40s & 50s modern, borrowing the former's dark wood inlays, along with the woven grasses so common to design in the latter decade.
Whatever the putative influences, it's an odd little number, but I must say I rather like it. I'm not sure why the globe symbol (TWA? Pan Am? I can't remember), made it into the desktop, but it seems to fit the mood.

Off-white and blue, this desktop utilizes the strangely pleasing interconnected globe Apple uses for its iTools online services. It's been tweaked a wee bit in order to bring out the richness of the colors, but other than that, it's painfully unoriginal. ;-)

A first for a Graphics Factory release, this desktop consists entirely of scanned elements. Normally I wouldn't have bothered creating a desktop like this, but here in Seattle the Autumn was so nice I couldn't resist. Maybe it's just the excitement of actually experiencing separate seasons again after having lived in sub-tropical Florida for so many years, but while enjoying the leaf colors the other day, I realized that I'd have to do a bit of experimenting with the scanner. Here's the result. (Be forewarned though -- it's a hefty file!)

A soothing mixture of brushed steel and graphite hued Aqua stripes combine in this desktop. This inspiration for this little experiment in button creation and specular highlights arose directly from the 'iTunes' desktops available below, and should perhaps more properly offered with them, but what the heck, 'iTunes Quadtrych' just doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

Borrowing hues from OS X, these two desktops are the same, but for color. One is offered in Aqua blue, the other in Graphite. For those curious, they both borrow the pattern of stripes ubiquitous to the Aqua interface, with colors shifted to blue and gray. The pattern comes out rather nice, though the thumbnails don't show it.

This marks the first 'Boxed Set' ever released by the Graphics Factory, but it only seems appropriate. Entitled 'Play,' and 'Press to Play,' they represent the third, and final (barring odd inspirations), of the iTunes inspired desktop pictures. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did creating them.

Simply titled 'iTunes,' it takes a little bit of artistic license with the layout of everyone's favorite free mp3 player, and comes up with a rather pleasing desktop.

Those of you happily burning CDs using Apple's iTunes should recognize the symbol. Now if only I can figure out a way to animate the camera shutter effect on my desktop....
